Incontinence Problems

Compassionate, non-surgical physiotherapy to help restore bladder, bowel, and sexual function.

A Personalized Path to Better Pelvic Health

Physiotherapy for incontinence is a highly effective, non-surgical treatment. It focuses on the muscles, ligaments, and connective tissue of the pelvic floor and surrounding areas to restore bladder, bowel, and sexual function.

At Primus Physiotherapy, treatment begins with understanding your individual concerns and goals. Your care plan can address different types of incontinence, including stress, urge, and mixed incontinence, while helping you build practical skills for lasting improvement.

What to Expect From Treatment

Care is customized and comprehensive, with active guidance at every stage.

1

A Confidential Evaluation

Your first visit is a thorough assessment designed to understand your specific type of incontinence and the underlying factors. This evaluation helps your therapist get to the root cause of your concerns.

2

A Customized Plan

Your plan may combine exercises, hands-on therapy, and behavioural changes. Treatment commonly includes weekly sessions over several months, tailored to your needs and progress.

3

Active, Guided Care

Sessions include practicing exercises, movement, and body awareness with your therapist. You will also receive education about posture, body mechanics, bathroom habits, and bladder irritants such as caffeine or carbonated drinks.

Consistency Supports Long-Term Results

Your home exercise program matters. You will be given a specific home exercise program (HEP). Consistency with your HEP and behavioural changes, including fluid and diet modifications, is critical for long-term success.

While every individual is different, many patients begin noticing improvement in symptoms within 4 to 6 weeks. A full course of therapy for maximum, lasting improvement typically runs for several months.

Pelvic floor physiotherapy is an evidence-based treatment that can reduce or eliminate the need for pads, medication, or surgery for many forms of incontinence.

Your Recovery Goals

Your plan is built around helping you return to the movements that matter most.

  • Relief from hip or knee pain
  • Recovery of lost hip range of motion
  • Increased strength
  • Recovery of walking and functional skills
  • Independent care and confidence managing your condition

If you are ready for relief and tired of masking your pain, let’s work toward treating the cause—not just the symptoms.
