Your therapist will complete a thorough initial evaluation, including your medical history, current concerns, pain intensity, daily activity limitations, goals, and relevant medications, tests, and procedures.

The objective evaluation may include palpation, range-of-motion assessment, muscle testing, neurological screening, special tests, and posture assessment. Together, you and your therapist will develop a plan that may include visit frequency, home programming, education, goals, and expected progress.

Please bring your insurance information and completed patient forms. If you have a prescription or referral, bring it with you. For automobile accident or workers' compensation claims, also bring your claim number and your case manager or insurance adjuster's contact information.

Please arrive 15 minutes early if you have paperwork remaining, and wear comfortable clothing that allows access to the area being assessed.

A referral is not always needed. If you do not have a referral, please let us know when you request your first visit. You can provide a referral for physiotherapy if you have one.

Wear loose-fitting clothing that allows your therapist to examine and treat the affected area. Shorts are helpful for knee concerns, a tank top is a good choice for shoulder concerns, and loose-fitting clothing is recommended for low-back concerns.

Treatment sessions typically last 30 to 60 minutes per visit.

The number of visits is highly individual. It depends on your diagnosis, severity of impairments, medical history, and goals. Your therapist will re-evaluate your progress and provide recommendations throughout your care.

Physiotherapy & Treatment

Learn how physiotherapy can support pain relief, movement, and recovery.

Physiotherapists are experts in treating movement and neuro-musculoskeletal disorders. Pain often accompanies a movement disorder; physiotherapy can help address the movement problem and relieve pain.

At Primus Physiotherapy, our mission is to help people in pain get back to normal naturally while avoiding unnecessary injections, medications, and surgery whenever possible.

Physiotherapists help people reduce pain, regain function, improve movement, and return to the activities that matter to them. Care commonly includes therapeutic exercise, functional training, hands-on techniques, and education so you can confidently manage your recovery.

They also help prevent injury and loss of movement through appropriate exercise, safe movement strategies, and individualized guidance.

You will be evaluated by one of our licensed, highly trained physiotherapists. Your therapist will also treat you during subsequent visits whenever possible, supporting a one-on-one relationship and continuity of care.

Pain relief is a primary objective for many patients and may be supported by hands-on techniques, appropriate exercise, and heat or cold therapy. Some rehabilitation techniques can be uncomfortable, especially when restoring motion after surgery or injury.

Always communicate the intensity, frequency, and duration of your pain to your therapist so your treatment plan can be adjusted appropriately.

Your individualized plan may include active or assisted range-of-motion exercise, strengthening, stretching, posture training, walking training, soft-tissue mobilization, joint mobilization, and functional retraining.

Depending on your needs, treatment may also include ice or heat, neuromuscular electrical stimulation, TENS, traction, ultrasound, or other supportive approaches. Your therapist will explain what is appropriate for your condition and goals.

Massage may be part of your treatment. Rehabilitation specialists use a range of techniques that may help with recovery, including approaches to relax tight muscles, help manage swelling, or relieve pain.

Flare-ups can happen. If your symptoms return, call us. We may recommend coming back for an assessment, returning to your doctor, or modifying your daily activities or exercise routine.

Insurance, Billing & Choosing Care

We are here to help you understand the practical side of your care.

In many cases, health insurance covers physiotherapy treatment, though coverage varies by plan. Talk to our reception team so we can help clarify your benefits. Visit our insurance page for more information.

Billing for physiotherapy is similar to a doctor's office. Your treatment is billed to the relevant insurer, workers' compensation payer, or directly to you based on the services provided. The payer processes the claim and issues an explanation of benefits; any remaining patient balance is your responsibility.

Occasionally, missing or misunderstood information can delay payment. Our team can assist with questions about your coverage and billing.

In most cases, you have the right to choose your physiotherapy clinic. Primus Physiotherapy is a provider for many insurance plans. Give us a call and we will do our best to answer your questions.

Patients without insurance or who are not using insurance have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the expected cost of non-emergency items or services. You may request an estimate before scheduling.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may dispute the bill. For more information, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

Look for a licensed therapist, a thorough first-visit history and examination, clear discussion of your goals, and a treatment plan that addresses your specific problem. Consider whether the clinic offers services suited to your needs, can help with insurance questions, and is conveniently located.

Primus Physiotherapy offers one-on-one care, hands-on treatment, physiotherapy, chiropractic treatment, massage therapy, dry needling/IMS, pelvic floor therapy, and vestibular and concussion programs.
